MAGLOO’S STILL GOT GAME

Local Disco muso, Magloo aka Amafesto has dropped an eight-track album titled, ‘Buwasengwe’.

The delightful disco LP has fun tunes such as: ‘Machokochoko’, ‘RB1’, ‘Botsotsi’, ‘Tsaya Kgato’ and ‘Bojosi’, which are sure to get listeners bouncing.

Sticking to the pantsula style that made her, Magloo features the likes of: Mahempe, Lame, Zangwane on instrumentals, while Makholaskop’s vocals add to the album’s depth.

Recorded at Lebzamos Recording Studio, mixed by Lame Letlaatlaa and arranged by Gloria Lorato Thakadu, the well-composed body of music is a true reflection of the veteran artist’s ability with the mic.

Magloo’s musical history dates back 25 years to 1998, when she started as a backing dancer before taking her place as a lead singer, dropping her debut album ‘Tsamaya’ in 2010.

ZION CHOIRS IN THE CAPITAL

GC will be alive with the sound of music next month as nine groups from around the country converge on the capital on 5th August for the second edition of the BW Zion Choir Competition.

Looking to hit their melodic high notes at Botlhale Hall and sing their way to the P8, 000 top prize will be: Ubunye Bama Zion, Barati ba Bontle, Kanye Zion Acapella, Ghetto Mass, Ubuhle Bensidiso, The Mass of Christ, AHSCZA Nhlangeni and Imbewu Yethemba Mass.

With Josh Pata as the hunky host, the event will also feature guest choirs from South Africa and Swaziland to spice up the night.

BW ZION CHOIR COMPETITION

As well as the P8 grand pay-day, the winners will also walk away with a trophy and certificate.

The runners-up get P4, 500 plus certificate while third and fourth can dry their tears to the tune of P2, 500 and P1, 000 respectively.

Individual accolades will also be up for grabs on the night, including: Best Leader, Best Soprano, Best Sfutho and Best Tailor among others.

Tickets are selling for P100 standard and P200 VIP.

GANTSI’S BIG SATURDAY NIGHT

For lovers of good music, Gantsi is the place to be next Saturday with a number of festivals taking place in the area.

Topping the list of events is the Gantsi Invasion at The Garden House which is opposite Khawa Lodge.

The show features man-of-the-moment, Ntate Stunna of ‘Stimela’ fame.

Joining the Lesotho legend on stage will be big hitters such as: Paige, Vee Mampezy, Khoisan, Han C, Franco, Chokoma, Chef Gustos, DJ Bunny, Rass, Rudo, VIP Obligatto and NatureBW, with Mdu Tha Party and Hey Nyena sharing the role of MC.

Staying in the Kalahari village on Saturday night, the oasis of fun continues in the desert as Kokesto Farm plays host to: Makhadzi, LaTimmy, ATI, Fizzy Tha DJ, Lioness, DJ Lefatshe, Swagkids and Snani.

The show, brought to you by Nandi Flame Entertainment, has set tickets prices at: P150 early bird, P200 standard, P650 premium, P1, 000 VIP and finally P2, 500 for revealers after an extra ‘V’ in their VIP!
