ON STAGE: Han C performing at the YAMAS

*Han C leads with three awards *Most nominated Chef Gustos loses in all seven nominations

*Dramaboi inducted into the Yarona FM Hall of Fame

Amidst all the drama and scandal, Botswana’s King of Pop, Han C, had an exceptional night at Saturday’s Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAS), winning in all the categories he was nominated in.

Han C is officially a five-time YAMAs People’s Choice Artist of the year.

He also won Best Male Artist and Best Pop for his smash hit, Sebinki which was released a year ago.

The music entrepreneur walked away with P60 000, and in a very grand gesture, donated P10 000 to his fellow nominees under the Artist of the year category, who according to him were equally deserving of the prize.

DJ Ngwazi, who has been dropping a stream of hits, also shone that night, scooping the Best Amapiano and People’s Choice Song of the year for Uthando, a collaboration with Master KG, Nokwazi, Lowsheen and Caltonic SA, another song from last year.

Another Artist who frequented the stage was KX Legit who won Best Newcomer and Best Hip Hop for ‘Moshate’.

Chef Gustos on the other hand, had himself a rough night!

The Away hitmaker had seven nominations in total, but ended the Night empty handed.

Another Artist who surprisingly didn’t win any awards, despite a highly successful year is Ezra Neethings.

Better luck next time!

To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Okavango Diamond Company sponsored, ‘The Diamond Award’ which was meant to celebrate those who have demonstrated outstanding brilliance and success in the music industry.

The prestigious award was received by KTM Choir which brought home a gold medal from the World Choir Games which were hosted in South Korea in July.

Corporate MC Jazelle Kebakile was also honored for her successes and remarkable journey in her line of work.

What are the YAMAs without a Hall of Fame induction? In a very heartfelt moment, the awards paid tribute to the late Motswako artist Dramaboi, and officially inducted him into the Yarona FM Hall of Fame.

The YAMAs were definitely a whirlwind of events and emotions, however, for the winners, it was probably one of the greatest night of their lives.
