Police have arrested and questioned four suspects implicated in the ongoing case involving social media activist Tshepo Sethibe, the man behind the controversial Moeladilotlhoko News Boiler Facebook page, whose matter is currently before the Molepolole Magistrates’ Court.

Two of the suspects, a 47-year-old man from Broadhurst and a 53-year-old woman from Parwe ward in Mahalapye, were arrested on Wednesday.

The other two suspects, a 56-year-old woman from Gaborone West and a 37-year-old man from Mbalambi village in the North-East District, were arrested the following day.

The investigating officer in the case, Detective Assistant Superintendent Thabo Edwin Moje, said the two suspects arrested on Wednesday were questioned and released from police holding cells on the same day.

“We’re still on the hunt for two more suspects as our investigations continue,” explained ASP Moje.

The officer further revealed that the arrested suspects will soon be arraigned before the same court, facing charges similar to those brought against Sethibe.

The social media activist, known for his colourful headscarf, has been charged with offensive electronic communication, contrary to Section 18 of the Cybercrime and Computer Related Crimes Act.

ASP Moje revealed that the particulars of the offences differ slightly, as some are accused of posting comments allegedly calling for the burning of the chief’s yard.

Particulars of the offence state that on 17 February 2026, Sethibe willfully and maliciously used electronic communication of an offensive nature through the Facebook page Moeladilotlhoko News Boiler, to publish a post which read:

“Bajele mosimane yo mongwe jaana malome mme ko Medie ba loba erile batho bautlwa go nkga sebodu sese ntseng jang mo sakeng bainyeleditse bannga ditiro goko Medie kwa baja batho straight malome ka boikgantsho le lenyatso kgosi ya ko Medie raboko wa poo oja batho ka bodipa abo aitse gore o tla didimatsa batho ka madi pipa molomo… remo mathateng re tshela ka letshogo.”

Literally translated, the message reads:
“They have killed another boy in Medie uncle, and concealed the information. When people were alerted by a bad smell coming from the kraal, the culprits disappeared. In Medie they kill people willy-nilly uncle, with arrogance and disrespect. The Medie Chief is a bully and a murderer who kills people with stubbornness, knowing well that he will bribe people with money so that they remain silent. We are in trouble; we live in fear.”

In some of the responding comments, a certain Idah Mmagwe Sly Kelefetswe wrote:
Bo Raboko ke nako ya gore ba tshubelwe mo matlong a bone, gosa nneng jalo batho ba go fela ka Mme kese.”

Another user, Justice Masendeke, commented:
“Tshubang ntlo ya kgosi ka molelo,” while Biki Bance Wasa also posted a comment saying:
“Tshuba jarata yotlhe.”

The 35-year-old Sethibe is expected to appear before the Broadhurst Magistrates’ Court for a bail ruling on the same day his case returns to the Molepolole Magistrates’ Court for mention.

Having already spent two weeks in prison, Sethibe’s followers remain hopeful that their outspoken “uncle” will soon be granted bail.
