Police are investigating the death of a woman who allegedly died by strangulation inside a church at Tsabong’s Bontleng ward last Monday.

It is alleged that the 48-year-old woman was heard screaming for help at 11pm on the fateful night and a neighbour phoned the pastor notifying him of the strange late night screams.

“The pastor at St Morris Apostolic Church acted upon the call and went to investigate what was happening, only to find the woman lying motionless with blood oozing from the mouth inside the church. It was suspected that the woman was strangled by someone who then fled the scene,” a close source revealed to this publication.

The matter was reported to Tsabong police who rushed the woman to Tsabong Primary Hospital where the medical doctor certified her dead upon arrival.

Botswana Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Dipheko Motube confirmed to this publication that they are investigating the death incident.

“I can confirm that we are investigating an incident in which a 48-year-old woman was found dead. It is a death incident. An inquest has been opened. When a person is found like that an inquiry is made to establish the possible cause of death,” briefly explained the police boss.

Neighbours are said to have found some shoe prints at the scene and tried tracing them.

The search however did not bear any fruit as the shoe prints vanished along the way due to the blowing heavy winds.

The deceased was laid to rest last Saturday morning.
