Wanted man’s decomposing body discovered in Sefhophe
The search for a man suspected to have killed his girlfriend came to a grisly end on Wednesday with the gruesome discovery of his badly-decomposed body.
34-year-old Hendrick Makomori was wanted in connection with the murder of his missus, who was strangled to death with an electric cable at her home in Molalatau village on Saturday 9 May.
When officers arrived at the victim’s house, they found her lying motionless on the bed, a cable beside her. Her boyfriend was nowhere to be found.
Following an extensive manhunt for the missing man, Makomori’s corpse was finally tracked down to Sefhophe 12 days later, 80km away from the crime scene.
Confirming the development, Botshabelo Station Commander, Sedisa Malefo revealed a passerby searching for his goats was alerted by a strong stench coming from a nearby house.
The Superintendent said the curious herder followed the sharp smell, only to discover the decomposing remains of a human body inside the house, which is still under construction.
“The police arrived, and the man was positively identified by his parents as Makomori,” Malefo told The Voice.
The Station Commander added a post-mortem examination was conducted at the scene to determine the cause of death, with the police awaiting results.
