Gospel Awards gear up for edition six, again
After two false dawns, Saturday 11 April is D-Day for edition six of the Gospel Music Awards.
Originally penciled in for 8 November, the show was postponed the day before, with organisers blaming ‘logistical factors beyond their control’ for pulling the plug at the last minute.
Rescheduled to 7 February at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC), in mid-January another cancellation was called; logistics and outstanding administrative processes were the reasons cited this time.
Confident it will be third time lucky, event organiser, Tshepo Ngakaagae told Voice Entertainment her team have pulled out all the stops.
Despite the previous hiccups, she is adamant installment six, set for BA Isago University under the theme ‘A Sound that Transforms’, will be the best yet.
“This edition is inspired by growth and legacy. We are strengthening the foundation of Gospel music as both ministry and industry, while celebrating excellence and impact,” she explained, adding preparations are well underway, with key partnerships secured and media rollouts in full swing.
“Resource mobilisation is always a challenge, but we address it through early planning, strategic partnerships, and disciplined execution,” noted Ngakaagae.
Telling audiences to expect a noticeable upgrade from previous shows, she promised enhanced production quality, improved stage design, stronger media integration and an overall elevated experience for both in-person and virtual audiences.
“This year, category refinements and special recognition segments will take centre stage, including the Legendary Award and the Director’s Honorary Award,” continued Ngakaagae, describing the response from stakeholders as ‘very encouraging’.
“We’ve seen growing support from sponsors, media, partners, and strong engagement from Gospel artists.”
With the night’s live performers expected to be announced soon, voting lines are open for fans to choose their favourite artists – check out the Gospel Music Awards Facebook page for more details.
Available at Tickito on The Voice’s website, tickets went on sale last Tuesday, with standard entry priced at P100 and VIP going for P500.
