He’s best known for his uncanny ability to make people laugh, so it comes as quite a shock to learn that Tinnere doesn’t consider himself a comedian.

Indeed, on his FB page, the 44-year-old Molepolole born content-creator calls himself a business promoter, actor and MC – let’s find out why…

Who is Tinnere?
Tinnere is my brand name, a character from the movie ‘Bandlen’. My real name is Pule Mmakgotso from Molepolole, a 2016 Performing Arts graduate at Limkokwing University.

I see your Facebook page has racked up over 99k followers in less than four months; impressive stuff! Take us back to where it all began?
I started this in 2009, acting in a Lobatse movie called ‘Bandlen’, which is also when I began building the character Tinnere.
In 2019 we created a page called BW Trending Content, where I acted with Malagase and a little later, Bonyanabo; all three characters are from the Bandlen movie. TINNERE page has close to 100k followers but I only created it last year October. And we are still working together in BW Trending Content, where we reached 350, 000 followers in December.

Are you also on TikTok, as it seems that’s the direction most content creators are going?
I’m not on TikTok but I will be. I wanted to first create a Facebook page, and when I reach 100k followers then I open the TikTok account.

Ah, so soon then! Do you do stand-up comedy as well, or is it just social media skits?
I’m not a stand-up comedian, I am a Television Actor! Besides Bandlen, I’ve also acted in: Night Shift (2016), Lights Off (2019) and more recently productions for Mzansi Magic – Khumo Ya Dinaledi (2024) and Route 2 (2025). That’s why I say I am a TV actor!

Ah fair enough, so apart from acting, how do you earn a living?
I work for my company TINNERE full time, that’s why I say I’m a full-time actor.

Who motivated your talent?
There is a man called Tumelo Chaba. I worked with him for 16 years, up to now I’m still with him. He directed me in ‘Bandlen’ then I was called at ‘Lights Off’ where I met him as the Director. He was also my Director on ‘Night Shift’ and ‘Khumo Ya Dinaledi’ and is still my Director at ‘BW Trending Content’. That man knows Tinnere better than anybody.

Which of your videos has been the most successful?
The attractive video on BW Trending Content is episode 56 with Bonyanabo, while on Tinnere page is episode 3, the one Tinnere cried for P10 note he gave to Dikakapa. The most successful is episode 17 with Malagase when I wanted to fight.

Moving onto matters of the heart – are you dating anyone? When are you intending to marry?
Yeah, I’m dating. Why not? I am a man, I am about to marry.

They say laughter is the way to a woman’s heart – is it true comedians get all the girls?
Hahahaaaaa! So comedians get all the girls? But remember Tinnere is not a comedian, he is a professional actor so I’m not doing my art for girls. I know how to handle this international brand; mind you I built this brand ‘TINNERE’ for 15 years.

Which awards have you received so far?
I won many awards, more especially Best Actor for several BQA competitions from 2009 to 2012.

Two things that really embarrassed me: to meet Pule and then try to twist me to Tinnere character, because these are two different people.

What do you like most about Molepolole?
The good thing about my village is that it’s 50km away from the city, 30 minutes drive – I can even use a bicycle!

Any last words to wrap-up?
Being Tinnere is something else, after that it’s Pule; so most of my time, I’m thinking about the content of my page. Batswana, I have my own page TINNERE, and I’m available for advertising. Just call 75452043/74353839.
