WILLIAM LITE
Victor Nkoba was a nobody, until William Last gave him a few hours of fame and clearly the young chap has had a taste and is desperate to stay relevant.
Shaya however finds it distasteful that Nkoba has resorted to mimicking Last’s content ideas.
William Last’s social media content is his bread and butter, and it’s pathetic that anyone would mess with another man’s hustle.
Thankfully, the real ones will forever recognise the quality craft. Well, Last may not be that innocent though because his name recently popped up next to two words: copyright infringement.
An upcoming South African artist accused him of stealing his song, which is supposed to be released today (Thursday 25 Jan).
Yours Truly will be keeping an eye out to see what happens with the release.
NOT SO HOT
It appears we’ve become quite fond of stealing other people’s concepts;originality is a word we refuse to affiliate ourselves with as a people!
Shaya is always surfing the net, particularly tiktok, Facebook and Youtube for that next best thing or person on the internet and I was disappointed to see that Zeus’s wife’s efforts at podcasting were basically a duplicate of American Youtube Talkshow Hot ones.
The platform is simply about “having deep conversations over hot wings” and as fun as the concept seems, it’s not that original if you already know the show. Its 2024 guys, let’s do better!
BEGGING FOR HANDOUTS
Master KG is said to be throwing a huge birthday celebration at the beginning of February and Hip Hop artist Baxon and his friends are trying so desperately to get him on the lineup.
It started with one fan who was expressing his love for the guy, and now the whole country is rallying after the idea of making sure he gets local and international bookings.
In Shaya’s view, if our local artists were consistent in their work, they wouldn’t have to beg for performance slots.
Baxon last released music two years ago, yet he hopes to remain relevant even on international platforms?
Try hopping into the studio, releasing a banger, you will thank Shaya later.
RUNDOWN
Shaya is concerned about the wellbeing of a newbie Afro Pop artist who has been securing gig after gig but seemingly struggling in the clothing department.
By struggling, I mean she wears worn out shoes to performances and is seen looking rather shabby in malls around the city, almost like a hobo as some say.
Surprisingly, she is under the management of one of the biggest artist managers in the country, which makes Shaya wonder if the young girl is being conned out of her hard earned money.
Shaya will be keeping an eye out and if the situation doesn’t get better, we might have to call her manager for answers!
