Tatisiding was splashed red this Valentine’s Day; sadly, it was not due to any celebrations but rather a young woman’s brutal murder.
23-year-old Faith Mbaiwa’s dead body was found in the bush near her home in Newstance ward, with the finger of suspicion pointing at Obakeng Khumoetsile, 26.
Although the details are still sketchy, it is believed Mbaiwa was strangled. It is also unclear how the two knew each other.
Charged with murder, Khumoetsile was arraigned before Francistown Magistrate Court on Monday, where his plea was reserved.
After the charges were read to him in court plea was reserved and he was remanded in custody to allow the investigations to be carried out without his interference.
The statements are to be taken and postmortem is to be conducted. It is not yet clear if the two were lovers or friends.
In an interview with Gerald Estates Station Commander, Kedibonye Kula also confirmed they are investigating a murder case.
“Our investigations are still ongoing to establish what really transpired between the two. We received the report around 5pm on Saturday from the suspect.
“The suspect turned himself in and led us where the body was in the bush,” the police boss.
