IN GOOD TIMES: Masisi & Mbulawa (L-R)

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) veteran, Reaboka Mbulawa has expressed satisfaction at former President, Mokgweetsi Masisi’s humiliating fall from power.

In a strongly worded Facebook post last week, Mbulawa, who was barred by BDP leadership from contesting for Maun East Parliamentary seat at the party’s primaries in July, has openly stated how happy he was with the outcome of last month’s general elections.

“It is well with my soul. Nna ke lebogela puso e ncha (I am grateful for the new government), peace, love and unity, the rest is memories and history. Thanks Batswana,” wrote the BDP’s former North West Regional Chairman, whose party suffered a dismal defeat to UDC at the polls, winning just four of the 61 constituencies up for grabs, while the umbrella took home 36.

Expressing the kind of storm and stress he underwent under Masisi’s leadership, Mbulawa said he was labelled an ‘Ian Khama loyalist’ and so shunned by the party’s hierarchy.

“Meanwhile don’t forget how you made my life difficult with Lieutenant General Khama stigma. I am relieving myself in a similar manner as a striped polecat releasing a fart. Mindset Change has worked in my favour,” roared the 49-year-old politician.

“They even said Khama has shares in my company which is not true. They made me suffer.”

Despite this, Mbulawa maintained he holds no ill will towards the former President.

“I still respect MEK Masisi despite all they did to me. God forgives and I do too, I am Little David.”

He added that he demonstrated loyalty to Khama, the same way he accorded allegiance to Masisi and that he will be doing the same for the current state President, Advocate Duma Boko.

“My allegiance is with the Chair, regardless of whoever is on it. You will see with the current. As a disciplined former Wildlife officer it’s a must. I stay obedient, loyal and disciplined towards leadership, but that doesn’t mean I’m foolish or weak,” further vented Mbulawa.

Asked about his comments this week and whether he was still a member in good standing of the BDP, the outspoken maverick, nicknamed ‘the lion’, growled his confirmation.

“As I have mentioned before, I am a patriotic leader and as long as one is a president of the country, my allegiance is with them for I am a loyal citizen, people must understand these principles. We live in one world where the economy benefits us all. We just cannot watch Boko fail, we need him to excel for the good of us all, for the good of this country. Yes I am still BDP.”
