The Molepolole man accused of killing his pregnant lover reportedly has an 11-month-old baby with a second girlfriend in the village.

It is believed 27-year-old Tebatso Koolatlhe suffocated Keamogetse Kgosietsile, 21, to death on Friday 25 July as he was angry at her refusal to get an abortion.

Having allegedly disposed of the body that night, Koolatlhe is said to have treated his baby mama, who is also aged 21, to a shopping spree the very next day; he was nabbed later that afternoon!

Kgosietsile, who was around six months pregnant, was last seen getting in Koolatlhe’s car on Friday evening, when he came to pick her up from her home in Ntloolengwae ward.

Her already decomposed body was found two days later, buried in a shallow grave in a field at Seherelela lands, some 5 kilometres from Molepolole, with the suspect seemingly leading the police to the site shortly after his arrest.

Announcing this during last Monday’s brief arraignment at the Magistrates Court, Assistant Superintendent, Future Modisadife said, “The deceased body was recovered on Sunday with the assistance of the suspect. The Investigating Officer is not in court; he has gone for the postmortem examination.”

With investigations into the matter just getting started, Koolatlhe was remanded in custody, his own safety given as one of the reasons. He is due back in court on 14 August.

According to sources close to the case, the Ratotoboro ward resident had long urged Kgosietsile to terminate the pregnancy, even threatening to kill her if she did not.

However, Molepolole Station Commander, Jacob Molapong, assured The Voice the alleged warning was never reported.

“We were only informed about the threat allegations during investigations after a case of missing person was reported and that led to the suspect’s arrest,” explained the Superintendent.

“The mother said she saw her daughter’s boyfriend car parked at her place on Friday and later her daughter went missing. When they tried to call her cellphone, it was answered by a certain man who quickly dropped. When they called back, the phone was off.

She reported her daughter missing on Saturday, after they checked her at the boyfriend’s place and didn’t find her,” continued Molapong.

Described as a bright and friendly young woman by those who knew her, Kgosietsile was laid to rest at Garanta Cemetery last Tuesday.
