DJ ON THE DECKS: Lentle doing her new thing

It’s hard to believe Lentle Baitshoki is still only 25.

The Kanye native has already packed more than most manage in a lifetime into her short time on the planet so far.

Her crammed CV includes: dancer, musician, actress, makeup artist, comedian and worshipper, with the multi-talented creative recently adding DJ to the long list.

Considering all she’s achieved, it would be understandable if DJ Lentle’s success went to her head – instead, she remains down-to-earth and humble, grounded in gratitude.

“Thank God for the gifts. Thanks to my family for their invaluable support, they helped me nurture these talents,” she tells Voice Entertainment.

Introduced to ballroom dancing by her mother, Lentle’s journey into movement began early, with the classroom far from her only teacher.

“Along the way, I learnt other dances by watching kids dancing in the streets. I found it cool. Anything that screams dance, I’m going to be a part of it,” she laughs.

This foundation shaped not just her skill, but her self-belief.

“In a ballroom dancefloor, you are expected to always have your chest out, head high, and walk with 100 percent energy. That taught me to always enter rooms with confidence,” she explains – admittedly, it helps when you’re blessed with stunning good looks as well!

“Before the decks and dancefloors, there was a microphone. I discovered I am a singer at the age of six. I remember a family fun day at school. I registered for a singing competition, took the mic and started singing; people were happy, excited,” she recalls.

Years later, while studying Chinese Studies at the University of Botswana (UB), Lentle tapped into makeup artistry, which was both a passion and a much-needed Pula provider.

“Honestly, allowance was not enough. So, the makeup hustle came in for me to survive,” she said, adding the craft continues to give her joy to this day.

“Nothing makes me happier than empowering another girl and boosting their confidence. Makeup gave me the power to take something that already exists and enhance it, make it even more beautiful.”

Plunged into the widespread world of unemployment upon graduation, Lentle turned to MCing, proving a natural with her outgoing nature.

With her brand growing, life took an exciting turn last year when her manager, Thati Kgodingwe encouraged her to try out for a part in a local film.

“I went for the auditions and I was picked as a cast member,” reveals Lentle, adding the film is still in the production stage and thus she can’t go into too much detail yet.

Acting unlocked yet another hidden skill: comedy.

“I didn’t think people would find my character funny because that’s just day-to-day Lentle. Putting it on camera, people loved it. My skits go viral and it’s super mind-blowing.”

Branching out yet again, on 5 December 2025, Lentle officially launched her DJ career at a low key gathering in Tawana, Broadhurst.

“The launch was a success,” she declares proudly.

With the up-beat, high-tempo sound of Amapiano as her go-to set, the creative youth’s dance background gives her an added edge.

“My dance and DJ complement each other. Amapiano is hype, rhythm, fire and dance. With nice street-style dancing, it’s top-notch, and I do it with 100 percent confidence.”

A committed Christian, Lentle’s admits her showbiz journey has caused raised eyebrows and attracted criticism from certain quarters.

“Some people feel I can’t be a worshipper and an Amapiano dancer and DJ at the same time. I believe God gave me a pen to write my story, and this is how I want to write it. Nothing will stop me!” she declares, shrugging off such negativity with a shrug of her slender shoulders.

With over 70, 000 followers, a rapidly growing fanbase and multiple talents, ensuring all the parts come together smoothly is not easy.

“I do daily, weekly and monthly planning. I have deadlines. I’m very cautious with time.”

Indeed, in her 25 years on the planet to date, Lentle has hardly wasted a second!
