F-TOWN ON THE SCREEN

A documentary film by Supangwao Museum in collaboration with the US Embassy will premier on Friday, March, 24 at the City of Francistown Civic Centre Hall.

The Embassy popped out P115 000 in October last year to sponsor the film titled ‘Untold stories: ‘A history and diversity of Francistown’.

According to the Museum Curator Geoffrey Matheakgomo, the docu-film will boost the second capital’s cultural tourism, with the main aim being commercialization of heritage sites in Francistown.

The film will shine a spotlight on Francistown’s checkered past, from the first gold rush in 1836, to the colonial buildings that have become the city’s identity. Matheakgomo said the documentary will also focus on prominent individuals such as Phillip Matante, WENELA and the history of the iKalanga people.
