BNF begs members to dig deep for fundraising dinner
With the clock ticking down to the weekend’s gala dinner, Masilo Sonnyboy Masilo, the Botswana National Front (BNF) Secretary for the Selibe Phikwe East Constituency, has issued an urgent and impassioned plea for party members to attend in large numbers or risk losing a crucial foothold in the Botshabelo East area.
Speaking to this publication this week, Masilo said that the objective of the event is to raise funds towards the establishment of a party office in the area.
He said that the office will enhance BNF’s ability to effectively serve its members and the broader community.
Masilo did not mince words about the financial gravity of the event.
“We all know that the BNF was formed for the less privileged and marginalized, but it’s not like we are forgetting our own foot soldiers when looking for a target market in terms of pricing,” he said when talking about the steep ticket price, adding that funds will be channeled directly into opening and running a fully-fledged party office.
“We explained this to our members, and they understood and appreciated it.”
However, Masilo pleaded for understanding, urging those who cannot afford the “steep price” not to view the gala as discriminatory, but rather as a necessary sacrifice for a noble, collective goal.
“Look beyond the price tag, see the roof over our future operations,” he emphasised.
Despite the economic anxieties, Masilo remains adamant about the turnout.
He revealed that the party is expecting a “bumper crowd” from the business community, Members of Parliament and Ministers.
The organisers have confirmed a powerful speaker lineup designed to draw crowds.
Soviet Lekganyane of the African National Congress will be the guest speaker while BNF Vice President and Minister for State President, Defence and Security, Moeti Mohwasa will give the keynote address.
