‘Mr G’ unzipped himself and asked girls to touch his penis
A disgraced former John Mackenzie School (JMS) teacher has been jailed for a year after admitting to asking three 10-year-old female students to touch his penis, which he had unleashed from the zip of his trousers.
Pleading guilty to three counts of indecent assault, Manuel Mathews Greenland, 68, was sentenced by Francistown Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.
The Zimbabwean educator, who taught at the private school for 21 years, where he was popularly known as the legendary ‘Mr G’, committed the offence in a JMS classroom on 27th September, 2018.
It was heard the father-of-seven unzipped himself, freeing up his dangling manhood before asking three young girls seated near his desk to have a look under the table and stroke him.
The trio reacted in horror, telling their parents what had happened as soon as they got home.
The school authorities were duly alerted and Greenland was suspended on 8th October, 2018.
Begging for a lenient sentence, in mitigation, the perverted teacher’s attorney, Wada Nfila, pointed out the incident had ruined his client’s life, with Greenland paying dearly for his moment of madness.
“He has lost everything; his wife, his job, his reputation. He is an old man reduced to living on handouts from friends and family,” revealed Nfila.
His pleas bore mixed fruit, with court seeing fit to send Greenland to prison for one year for each of the three counts but ruling the terms would run concurrently (at the same time).
