GOING FOR TRIALS: Sindy Tsumake

Midfielder to try her luck at Dynamos

Former Botswana national team player Sindy Tsumake has been invited for trials by Lusaka Dynamos Ladies Football Club in Zambia.

The 33-year-old Ramotswa born defensive midfielder will leave the country next Monday for a two weeks trial in the Zambian capital city.

“I was supposed to have left on the 10th, but due to financial constraints I had to postpone my trip,” she said in an interview with Voice Sport.

Tsumake, who started playing football for Magopane Primary Schoolboys team in the Chappies Little League was an attacking midfielder.

She was not deterred by the nonexistence of the girl’s team, instead chose to beat the boys at their own game.

Her immense talent didn’t go unnoticed as in 2016 Meat Girls who were plying their trade in the Women’s Super League snapped her up.

As her career progressed, she’d later turn up for Township Rollers and South East Girls United.

Tsumake who’s in the twilight of her career was contacted by the Dynamos Manager after seeing her videos on Facebook.

He then contacted her current club Tonota Diamond Girls to negotiate a possible switch to Zambia.

In a brief interview with Voice Sports Tsumake said it has always been her wish to play outside Botswana before hanging her boots, a plan that was interrupted by the birth of her two kids in 2015 and 2017.

“For the whole of 2018, I was inactive as my kids were still young. In 2019 I was recruited by Tonota Diamond Girs,” she said.

The veteran who last played for the national team 10 years ago said if it wasn’t for social media the Dynamos Manager would have never known about her.

“This is a good opportunity for me,” said Tsumake contently.

“Although I’m not match fit due to suspension of sports in the country, I’ve been training on my own and I’m confident of impressing the Dynamos Technical team. My coach Andrew Marape has also given me a training programme that I’ve been following,” she said.

Should she make it, Tsumake will be joining the duo of Michelle Abueng and Thando Mokgabo in the Zambia Women’s League.
