Francistown Magistrate Court on Tuesday remanded in custody a man who allegedly attacked and injured another man at Matsiloje village in the afternoon of Sunday.
The 40-year-old Olebogeng Matlho is said to have found his victim Goitsemodimo Segopolo (25) sleeping and hit him with a plank on the head.
Segopolo then started bleeding and was taken to Matsiloje clinic where he was referred to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.
When appearing in court to face an unlawful wounding charge, Prosecutor Gasemotho Pitagano from the Directorate of Public Prosecution pleaded that the accused person be remanded in custody.
“The complainant in this matter is hospitalised at Nyangabgwe Referral hospital and we are monitoring his condition. Also, we are still to collect the statements from the possible witnesses and our investigations just commenced,” he said.
Pitagano’s plea emerged fruitful as the accused person was remanded in custody and will be back in court on the 23rd.
Speaking anonymously after court, one woman said the accused and the victim had fallout on that day prior to the incident.
“The accused then went to a drinking spot where he found the complainant drunk and sleeping. He then took a plank and hit him on the head. Blood started oozing from the head and it was scary,” she said.
