Fans smitten with Tizoski’s ‘O Rata Mang’

Since its release on 18 October, Tizoski Mapantsula’s latest single, ‘O Rata Mang’, has felt the public’s love, big time!

A mix of Kwaito and Amapiano, the track saw Tizoski team-up with DJ Skizoh of ‘Tsiri Tsiri’ fame, for what he calls his ‘biggest artistic leap yet’.

“So far, so good; the feedback from fans has been amazing. People are really feeling the vibe, and that’s what matters most to me. We put so much work into blending Kwaito and Amapiano. The production and delivery are completely different from what fans are used to; it’s a new chapter for me,” the 38-year-old artist born Thabo Bethuel Bimbo tells Voice Entertainment.

In an era when cheating is all too common, the song asks an important question.

“As youth, we have so many partners nowadays. So ‘O Rata Mang’, translated as ‘who do you love’, is a question directed to someone with many partners,” explains Tizoki.

From the dusty streets of Tsabong to the bright lights of Gaborone, Tizoski has built a distinct sound, bridging old-school Kwaito from his childhood with Amapiano’s modern pulse.

“I grew up listening to Thuso Letlhoma, known as Tizoski MHSRP. I admired him so much that I started calling myself Tizoski Mapantsula at school talent shows. Back then, I didn’t even realise I could make a career in music; I just loved it.”

Despite his doubts, he’s been making money from music for the last 17 years.

However, for Tizoski, the financial rewards are secondary to the joy he gets from inspiring listeners through his sound.

“I do music for a purpose. It’s a gift I use to make someone smile, feel hope, and try again, especially in tough times,” says the humble hit-maker, who studied Music Design at Limkokwing University in an effort to take his career to new levels, completing his diploma in 2018.

Under his own label, Tizmatize Productions, he has released hits like ‘Maruping’ and ‘Tsala Yame’, earning praise for his creativity and heartfelt lyrics.

Tizoski prides himself on versatility, effortlessly weaving Setswana into his music to connect with fans on a deeper level.
