HOPING FOR A WIN: Eleven Angels

Struggling Eleven Angels and Nico gear up for seasonal showdown

Eleven Angels and Nico United, two struggling premier league teams, are set to clash on Sunday at Francistown Council Stadium for their first encounter of the 2023/2024 season.

Nico United, affectionately known as ‘Majombolo,’ currently sits at the bottom of the league standings with nine points and only one win since the league’s start.

On the other hand, Eleven Angels has accumulated 10 points and secured two wins out of 12 games.

With three games left in the league’s first round, both teams are keen to kickstart the year positively and aim for a more comfortable position.

Eleven Angels’ Head Coach, Seemo Mpatane, acknowledged the team’s recent struggles, attributing them to the loss of key players at the start of the season, which led to fielding inexperienced players.

Mpatane expressed the team’s intention to elevate their performance and secure maximum points as the new year commences.

“Undeniably, the team has faced challenges due to the departure of several key players, resulting in fielding less experienced squad members,” stated Mpatane. He emphasized the acquisition of five new players during the January transfer window, believing they would contribute positively to the team, particularly in the upcoming Sunday fixture.

“We anticipate an intense match against Nico, considering their strength and fitness. To address the gaps left by our former players, we’ve brought in five new additions to aid in restoring the team’s capabilities and hopefully bolster our goal-scoring abilities,” added Mpatane, expressing his anticipation for an engaging game.

Despite their position at the league’s bottom, Mpatane remains optimistic, setting a goal for Eleven Angels to finish within the top 8 by the season’s end.

“While I hold great respect for Eleven Angels, considering both teams’ struggles in the league, I anticipate a competitive and entertaining game. My squad is prepared and in good shape to face Lekgamu-la-Bananyana,” affirmed Molefe.
