Power beer lands man in prison, and another in hospital
A 28-year-old man is battling for his life at Scottish Livingstone Hospital following a brawl over traditional beer in Seitsane lands in Kweneng West.
Thabiso Kukama was stabbed with a knife in the stomach by Keolebogetse Ralenakana, 23, after a heated argument over a traditional concoction commonly known as ‘power’.
The young men who met for the first time at the drinking hole started an argument over the highly intoxicating opaque drink.
It is reported that Ralenakana then drew a knife and plunged it into the victim’s midsection.
This violent act by an unruly Ralenakana nearly cost him his life as fellow ‘power’ imbibers pounced on him, leaving him with a gaping wound above his right eye.
During his arraignment last week Thursday, prosecutor Inspector Batsalelwang Mosebola pleaded with court to remand Ralenakana while they carry out their investigations.
He further said they were also monitoring the condition of the victim which is described as critical.
Pleading for bail, a remorseful Ralenakana told court that he had no intention of hurting his victim, but was blinded by anger.
This however not enough to convince Principal Magistrate Setshedi who sent him straight to prison for a whole month till next mention scheduled for November 3rd.
