Magda Camm drops Health is Wealth

The Department of Broadcasting Services National Roadshow raised many eyebrows, especially after the revelation that DJ Fresh had allegedly cashed out about P8 million for facilitating the tour.

Nonetheless, the roadshow carried on across 50 villages, with the intent to unearth some of the country’s most promising artists.

Amongst them was 10-year-old Magdah Camm, a hip-hop rapper from Ghanzi who is not only making her parents proud, but doing exceptionally well at underlining the importance of such platforms as the National Roadshow.

Camm recently put out a music video for her latest offering featuring Ace Blanco dubbed Health is Wealth, which is quickly gaining traction on social media.

As the name suggests, the upbeat song which was written by Ace Blanco advocates for a healthy living.

Her Manager, who also happens to be her Karate Instructor Sensei Nonofo Brax Keokilwe, further revealed that the music video which is a Woodbox Entertainment Production, was shot by Msico the Shooter.

He went on to appreciate the DBS Roadshow, which became a much needed helping hand in order to kickstart Magdah’s career.

“It was a fun but most importantly educational experience for Magdah Camm because it allowed her the opportunity to learn from experienced musicians, befriend other aspiring artists and also acquire fundamental skills such as performing for an audience,” he said.

Sensei Brax added that, “The song is part of a collaborative five-track EP that Magdah is working on alongside Ace Blanco titled Twinkle like a star.”

The EP will be produced under Woodbox Entertainment.

Speaking to Voice Entertainment, Seabelo Modibe, one of the coordinators of the roadshow expressed pride in Magdah Camm’s efforts just three months since the tour ended.

“Most of our artists are really putting in the work and it is satisfying to see, especially since most of them had no clue what a recording booth looked like when we first met.”

Modibe urged the artists to exercise patience in their craft.

“They shouldn’t expect their music careers to take-off in one day, but with commitment, passion and dedication, they will surely become Botswana’s next big stars,” he added.

After the artists were boot camped, their journey was celebrated on the 11th of February 2023, at a glittering awards ceremony which was graced by His Excellency President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi.

They were each given P10 000 to help kickstart their careers.
