Medical supplies company donates 100 scrubs to Nyangabgwe
In a kind-hearted, much-needed shot in the arm, Medtech Supplies have donated 100 surgical scrubs to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.
Representatives from the Gaborone-based, 100 percent Motswana youth-owned company made the 500km journey to Francistown last week to handover the scrubs, worth P100, 000 in total.
Formed in 2019 by two close friends, Medtech Supplies provide quality medical equipment to healthcare centres, including both private and government clinics and hospitals, around the country.
Speaking at the official handover ceremony last Wednesday, one of the founders, Lesego Condry Mooketsi described the donation as much more than just providing uniforms.
“It represents our commitment to supporting the healthcare heroes working tirelessly in neuro and maxillofacial [relating to the jaws or face] surgeries, where we had the honor of assisting over 100 patients. We recognise the critical need for quality and comfortable theater attire, which directly contributes to the well-being and morale of our healthcare professionals,” said Mooketsi, who serves as the company’s Executive Operations Director.
“We acknowledge the challenges healthcare faces daily and stand with them in fostering an environment where they can perform their vital roles with pride and dignity. Let this donation symbolize our ongoing partnership and shared vision to uplift the healthcare system and ultimately improve patient outcomes for Botswana,” he added.
Accepting the scrubs with gratitude, the Hospital’s Acting Manager, Lyster Motlhono said such gestures from the private sector go a long way in improving healthcare in Botswana.
“Nyangabgwe is a referral hospital covering two-thirds of the country so this donation will be assisting the whole northern part. This donation came at the right time when the country is going through financial constraints. And do not donate only the physical items, donate your intellectuals also,” Motlhono said.
He is confident the scrubs will ensure doctors and nurses are more comfortable while at work, which in turn will boost their morale.
