CONCERNED: Supt Ngada confirmed the grim news

A dog owner in Tonota received a harrowing wake-up call on Wednesday morning when he found his dogs chewing on a human foetus in the backyard.

The fully-developed male foetus was without his legs and arms, confirmed Tonota Station Commander, Oteng Ngada.

“The incident was reported by the yard owner at around 7am. When our officers attended the scene in Seroto ward, they retraced the dogs’ tracks to Shashe River,” disclosed the Superintendent, adding they are yet to establish whether the two, Setswana breed dogs ate the foetus’ missing limbs.

Ngada added they are awaiting the postmortem results, which they expect to be ready by Monday, to find out if the foetus was aborted or if it was alive at the time of birth.

“We plead with anyone with information that could lead to the mother’s arrest to contact us. If you have seen someone pregnant and now they are not but do not have the baby please come forward. We will definitely protect our source,” said Ngada, noting this was the first incident of a foetus being found in the Tonota jurisdiction since the start of the year.
