Tatitown police Station Commander, Superintendent Boipuso Baatweng, has confirmed that out of the 42 occupants who were involved in a bus accident along A3 road yesterday, 19 remain hospitalised while 22 were treated and discharged the same day.
A 68-seater Scania bus carrying 42 people, including the driver, was involved in an accident yesterday (Sunday) between Mathangwane and Francistown which claimed the life of one passenger.
“The driver was also discharged yesterday. The deceased is a 54 year old man of Mmadinare village. He died upon arrival at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital. The bus was carrying BURS employees from a retreat in Kasane to Francistown and we have not yet established what could have caused the accident,” said Baatweng adding that their investigations are ongoing.
He also noted that three of the occupants were in a critical condition as one broke a left hand, one a left leg while the third one had internal bleeding.
The police boss added that the rest of the passengers sustained minor injuries.
