Mashatu Game Reserve- a wildlife sanctuary based in eastern Botswana, and Bristol City, an English football club, announced a sponsorship partnership yesterday (Monday).
Mashatu’s sponsorship will see its logo emblazoned on the football team’s replica in every game they play.
Both organizations issued statements online confirming their alliance. “Bristol City will run out on Tuesday evening with a ‘Giant’ sponsor adorning the shirt as they celebrate a new partnership with Mashatu Botswana,” according to a statement on the Bristol FC website.
“Mashatu is proud to announce our partnership with Bristol City Football Club. Bristol City men will run out on Tuesday evening with the Mashatu logo adorning their shirts as we celebrate our new partnership,” a confirmation statement from Mashatu’s official Facebook page said.
The sponsorship will be unveiled today (Tuesday) at Ashton Stadium, where Bristol City will face Manchester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Bristol City is currently 13th in England’s second-tier league, with 44 points after 33 league games played.
The English team is no stranger to Botswana, having visited the country in 2014 on a “pre-season African tour” during which they competed in a friendship cup and participated in community service.
