Woman’s plot to punish love rival backfires

A desperate woman’s plot to get rid of her love rival has backfired badly, landing her in jail instead for an offence she had reported the other woman to the police for.

A farm worker, 29-year-old Anastacia Siziba, reported her two co-workers, Kgomotso Kgangyame from Thamaga and Febion Mudimba from Zimbabwe, to the police for growing dagga on the farm.

Tables, however, turned on Siziba when, together with Mudimba and Kgangyame, she too was charged with unlawful cultivation of dagga weighing 219.2 grams.

The two were granted bail because Mudimba had a work permit and Kgomotso is a citizen, while Siziba was kept in jail to wait for her next court date, set for Valentine’s Day.

It is alleged that the two women, Siziba and Kgangyame, were in a love triangle with their supervisor, Mudimba, and it was after a fight for him that Siziba alerted the police about the dagga they were growing in the fields.

Police investigations revealed 36 plants of dagga, which appeared to have been transplanted in the middle of the farm surrounded by lab-lab cattle feed.

The trio appeared for mention before Molepolole Magistrates’ Court last week Tuesday.

“The scheduled trial date is far as I am remanded in custody. May I be released on bail. I found the trees already planted, I’m not the one who planted them,” Siziba told the court while her co-accused had nothing to say.

She will appear for mention on February 14th, 2022 while Mudimba and Kgangyame will appear for commencement of trial on March 21st, 2022.

Mudimba and Kgangyame looked happy in love as they walked freely away from court while Siziba cut a lonely figure as prison officers escorted her to the police vehicle taking her back to prison.
