Unkind cut

ACCUSED: Ramontshonyane

Son stabs father’s intestines with a knife

A youthful Molepolole man has been remanded in custody by a Molepolole Magistrates’ Court facing an offence of unlawful wounding after he stabbed and cut his father’s stomach with a knife on Tuesday, exposing his intestines.

The 18-year-old accused, Edwin Ramontshonyane, was arraigned and later remanded by Magistrate Keabetswe Majuta following the prosecution’s plea for remand on reasons that the victim, Ntsimanyana Porogo, was still admitted at Princess Marina Hospital in critical condition.

“The victim has not yet submitted his statement. He is the father to the accused, staying in the same yard, so may the court remand the accused till completion of our investigations,” pleaded the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent Uyapo Koketso.

According to the police, the incident occurred in the evening when Ramontshonyane, his elder sister and their father were at home.

The sister is said to have been shocked by her father’s screams after Ramontshonyane had stabbed him in the stomach, piercing his intestines and in his back.

When the sister rushed outside the house to investigate, she found her father with a bleeding deep cut, holding his intestines (which were outside) in his hands.

After the police got the report and assisted by taking the victim to Scottish Livingstone Hospital, the old man was later referred to Princess Marina Hospital.

It is not yet known what annoyed Ramontshonyane to attack his father. He will appear before court for mention on May 20th, 2022.
