*Bomaid steps up campaign for healthier lifestyles
From conversations about healthy ageing in the virtual space to taking preventative healthcare onto the open road, Botswana Medical Aid Society (Bomaid) is continuing to encourage customers and communities to take a more active role in their health.
On Thursday, Bomaid hosted its Integrated Elderly Care Programme, a virtual engagement focused on the health and wellbeing needs of older customers. The programme formed part of the Fund’s continued efforts to make relevant health information and support more accessible at different stages of life.
This weekend, that conversation shifts to movement and active living as preparations gather pace for the Albert Milton Foundation AM640+ Charity Ride, which will see cyclists undertake the journey from Jwaneng to Maun later this month.
Ahead of the upcoming challenge, riders will take part in a practice ride this Sunday, commencing at 6:00am from Cycle Base at Sebele Mall. The route will take riders to Tshele-Malotwane and back as preparations continue for the main ride.
Members of the Bomaid Cycling Club will join the practice ride, while the wider Bomaid team will be on the ground to support the activity and engage with participants and customers. The Thrive with Bomaid team will also assist customers with on boarding onto the Fund’s wellness platform, encouraging greater participation in wellness activities and supporting healthier, more active lifestyles.
While the Integrated Elderly Care Programme and the cycling activity are different in format and audience, they form part of the same broader conversation around preventative healthcare. Bomaid continues to encourage people to consider the everyday choices that contribute to their long-term health, from remaining physically active and understanding their health risks to accessing relevant information and making use of available wellness support.
The AM640+ Charity Ride further brings together active living and community impact. Bomaid is supporting the initiative as part of its continued focus on preventative healthcare, community engagement and corporate social responsibility. The Fund’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Moraki Mokgosana, will participate as Chief Rider, joining cyclists on the journey from Jwaneng to Maun.
Through its involvement, Bomaid also seeks to use the ride as an opportunity to engage communities along the route on the value of movement and preventative health, while supporting the wider social purpose of the Albert Milton Foundation initiative.
The Sunday practice ride provides an opportunity to build momentum ahead of the main challenge, while bringing cyclists, customers and supporters together around active living.
Through Thrive with Bomaid, customers are encouraged to take a more deliberate interest in everyday habits that contribute to their wellbeing, including movement, nutrition and sleep. The platform forms part of the Fund’s wider approach to supporting customers beyond access to healthcare when they are unwell, by encouraging healthier choices throughout their health journey.
As the countdown to the AM640+ Charity Ride continues, Bomaid will share further information on its participation, community engagements and activities surrounding the journey from Jwaneng to Maun.
