Kazungula Bridge Marathon gets more sponsors

The Kazungula Bridge Marathon has welcomed more sponsors to their fold as the dates for the event approaches. With First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) already on board as the main title sponsor, Mascom Wireless, Botswana Television, Audio Tech, Coca Cola and Torch Studio have also come on board. In addition, Yarona FM and The Voice newspaper have also come on board as media partners while Desert Bush Walk and Solo Runner have also joined the fray of things as strategic partners. The event which is scheduled for the 26th of February in Kazungula is in its first year running and have already created much interest from sports fanatics. With FNBB having already committed P1 million sponsorship, half of the amount has been set aside for the prize monies. Speaking at the press briefing to update the media on the progress of preparations, FNBB Marketing and Communications Manager, Boga Chilinde -Masebu, said the event comes at the right time where as a company they are celebrating 30 years of operation in Botswana. "When they(organizers)approached us we saw this as a perfect feat since we believe in the principle of shared value. The Way the marathon is positioned is, we are expecting regional participants therefore Chobe people are going to benefit economically. We are looking for a good turnout therefore an unforgettable experience," she said. Mascom who are the new entrants in the list of sponsors have availed P200 000 sponsorship in cash and kind. "Mascom has been part of the sporting fraternity for long and once more we are adding another event to our sporting portfolio. We are going to sponsor the10km categories as well as internet connectivity at the start and finish line. We enthused to see this event grow in leaps and bounds," said Mascom Brand Manager Malebogo Sesinyi. For his part, event organiser Obert Morgan, said this will be the biggest event ever." Following the Covid imposed two year gap on marathons and sports activities we are looking forward to welcoming Batswana and runners from other Athletics Association.A submission has been made to get accreditation and recognition from World Athletics, therefore certification is expected sooner than later. Other sponsors include Halfway Motors, Spar, Botswana Tourism Organisation, Kwa Nokeng Oil and HATAB.
