Despite numerous apologies from South African artist Shandesh and interventions by the Botswana Entertainment Promoters Association (BEPA), Dejavu Lounge in the CBD dropped a bombshell this morning by releasing an official statement cancelling Shandesh’s performance, scheduled for this evening.
This comes after BEPA President Goaba Mojakgomo stated in an interview with The Voice newspaper yesterday that they had engaged promoters who had booked Shandesh for upcoming events, leaving it to their discretion whether to cancel or proceed with her shows.
Dejavu Lounge has now made a firm decision to cancel her appearance.
“This decision follows feedback received from various media outlets, social media platforms, and members of our community. As a brand that prioritizes integrity, respect, and the overall experience of our patrons, we believe it is necessary to take a firm stance when concerns are raised,” read a statement from the Dejavu management.
Meanwhile, in the comments section of the Facebook post, many Batswana expressed satisfaction and support for Dejavu’s decision.
