Just two weeks after being gifted a car by Kwaito Kwasa star, Vee Mampeezy, one of Ghetto’s top Disc Jockeys, DJ Bafana, is accusing his management of confiscating his wheels.
The wheelchair-bound DJ told Voice Entertainment he lent his silver Mazda 3 to his management team last week Friday (11 August), after they arrived in F/town for activations as part of the build-up to an event he is hosting at Molapo Leisure Gardens later this month.
“When my manager and his team arrived from Gaborone, they asked to use my car to run some errands in preparation for an activation at ET Bars in Block 8 on Saturday. I was surprised the following morning, when I was called for a meeting to be told that my car was being taken away from me,” grumbled DJ Bafana, who says he has reported the matter to the police.
His under-fire management then found itself on the receiving end of a scathing Facebook post from Vee this week, with the pint-sized musician blasting, “Bafana’s management this is the last warning… Vee Mampeezy and his team are coming for u.”
However, the man at the centre of the saga, Bafana’s manager, Donald Makgatlhe was quick to defend his actions, explaining he took the vehicle to protect the disabled DJ, who was born without legs.
“When we handed the car over to Bafana, we assumed he was responsible enough to get a driver because his disability impedes him from driving. He told us his cousin would drive him only to discover he was actually the one driving the car even though he is prohibited by law from driving due both his disability and lack of a driver’s license,” stressed Makgatlhe, who says Bafana attaches sticks to his stumps to be able to drive.
“What he was doing was extremely dangerous because he doesn’t have a license and could have ended up causing accidents and killing people, including himself. He had already been in two accidents where he crashed other people’s cars,” continued Makgatlhe, noting that when they took the car, they assured Bafana they would service it and find a way for it to generate income for him, such as turning it into a taxi.
