Member of Parliament for Tonota Constituency, Pono Moathodi, has called for the death penalty to be imposed on drug dealers.
Speaking at the unveiling of Mascom’s new tower in Tonota last week, Moatlhodi took a moment in his address to express his disgust for drug dealers whom he said are responsible for the deteriorating health and moral decadence in society.
The outspoken MP who is also Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly said he supports the capital punishment adopted by countries such as China on drug offences.
“In China when they catch you with drugs they kill you. I support the Chinese on this one,” he said and added: “Drug dealers in Botswana must be killed. They must be hanged until their souls leave their bodies because they are killing the future of this country”.
‘PPP’ as he’s affectionately known, said he was worried that when his generation will no longer be on this earth, leaders- including Chiefs, will all be druggies.
