DUST TO DUST: VTM and Chadibe in the previous clash

Despite their bad start losing 1-0 against Chadibe North FC in the first leg of Debswana First Division promotional play-offs, VTM FC Coach Leutlwetse remains optimistic ahead of the last fixture.

VTM will host Chadibe FC in the last and second leg of the promotional playoffs at VTM Arena on Saturday.

If it happens that the two teams have an equal number of goals and points at the end of the game, the away goal rule shall not be used to determine the champion. Teams will go to penalty shootout to determine the winner to fill the remaining slot in the Botswana Premier League for 2023/2024 season.

Speaking to Voice Sport, Coach Tshireletso anything is possible with 1-0 margin. He said he remains hopeful that he will turn things around and win the second leg. Coach said they have an advantage of home ground and they just have to focused and play their games

“The strategy of opponents scoring first made it difficult for us to come back. It was also difficult to play against the team we have never played but now we have an idea of what to expect. I am happy this did not demoralise my players and they know this is their last chance,” said Tshireletso

For his part Chadibe FC Coach Joseph Monyatsi said when they played their first game, they had never seen them play so they decided to attack from the first 10 minute.

He said the strategy worked for them and they managed to contain their opponents’ midfield denying them ball possession.

“I am happy that my boys were not intimidated by VTM’s big names. We matched them pound to pound and they are not difficult opponents. This game means a lot to us and is not all about gaining promotion but also a platform for talent scouting. I told my boys to go all out as there will be coaches from big clubs who will be watching them. At least now we know what to expect and have identified their strengths and weaknesses. Sfiso Myeni is a very skilful player who made VTM play well and organised in the midfield and I assigned my players to play with caution which they executed the plan and worked,” said Monyatsi

Coach said going into this game, they will not sit back to defend but they will attack. He said they have thoroughly prepared for this encounter and his players will play with caution not to concede.
