A three-year-old boy reportedly died on Wednesday evening after choking on his tea at Sojwe village.
Sojwe police station commander, Superintendent Kitsiso Lemogang confirmed to this publication that they were still investigating to establish the caused of death.
“It is alleged that the child was asthmatic and had been attending medical check-ups. He was even taken to Sojwe clinic on Wednesday before he died. It happened that while the boy was home drinking tea he choked on it and when he coughed the throat got closed and he had difficulty breathing,” explained the police officer.
The family is said to have taken sometime while observing the child at home thinking that he would recover as it had happened before.
Later on, when the boy became unresponsive, his 34-year-old mother took him to the clinic and the nurse swiftly referred him to Scottish Livingstone Hospital where he was certified dead by the medical doctor upon arrival.
When the doctor questioned the mother, she reportedly told him that the little boy chocked while drinking tea.
However, Superintendent Lemogang revealed that they later received a phone call from the doctor who advised them to investigate the matter.
