Only three out of 16 SADC heads of state are in attendance at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s swearing in ceremony which is underway in Harare.
This comes after the SADC election observer team heavily criticised the August 23 elections which they said did not meet SADC elections protocols and that it violated parts of Zimbabwe’s constitution.
The three leaders present are South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa, Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique and Democratic Republic of Congo leader, Felix Tshisekedi.
Mnangagwa will likely face regional and international isolation in his last term of office as his proclaimed victory has also been marred with claims of rigging and uneven political ground.
