FOR THE LOVE OF MEAT

Shaya has been made aware of an incident that involved Member of Parliament for Okavango, Kenny Kapinga at a foot and mouth control point recently.

Kapinga is alleged to have been caught trying to smuggle meat from the Ngamiland (red zone) to Gantsi side (green zone with no foot and mouth).

The MP is alleged to have been nabbed at Kuke veterinary gate while on his way to Gaborone.

Those close to the incident said that he feigned ignorance of how the meat found its way into his car.

Talk of a former police boss breaking the law!

FAREWELL PETROL BOMB

Shaya has noted the news of Resego Kgosidintsi’s appointment as Private Secretary to the Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Beauty Manake with interest.

During her time, ‘Petrol Bomb’ was a loose cannon, loved and hated in equal measure for her political missiles, especially during her time as the President of Botswana National Front Youth League.

She fired from all angles and indeed her departure is a big loss to Opposition politics. You will be missed in political rallies madam.

ACCIDENTOR PANIC ATTACK

Immediately after a memo was circulated to employees of Botswana Meat Commission to notify them that their February salaries were going to be credited next month, a BMC two month old company vehicle was involved in an accident.

CRASHED: BMC Vehicle

Shaya is wondering whether the accident was not caused by a sudden panic attack hitting an employee who just realised that his stop order for a bank loan was going to default.

Shaya wishes BMC employees speedy return to normalcy.

IEC NOT AGAIN, PLEASE

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) never ceases to amaze Shaya.

It failed to reach its target in the voter registration process, and raised eyebrows when it went to Zimbabwe for benchmarking purposes.

As if that’s not enough, the Commission is at it again with delayed payments.

UNPAID: IEC voter registration team

4641 unemployed youth were engaged to help with registration and only half of them have been paid so far.

With the escalating unemployment crisis, IEC cannot be toying with people ‘s financial wellbeing like this when so many people are drowning in debts.

THINGS THEY SAY:

“Ye ya dikoloi tse 45 ko Namibia o ta o ipotsa o kare batho ba batla go ya seyantu,” Member of Parliament for Maun East, Goretetse Kekgonegile questioning the logic behind donating 45 vehicles for use at the Namiban President, the late Hage Geingob’s funeral.
