Pit sand accident kills man

Good hope police are investigating a tragic incident involving a 31-year-old man who lost his life in a freak accident at Lepapeng lands on Sunday afternoon while loading pit sand into a donkey cart.

The deceased is said to have left home with his younger siblings aged 17 and 13 to load the pit sand from a pit that was dug by a construction company that was hired to maintain internal roads around the village.

Sources revealed that after the sand fell on top of the eldest siblings, the youngest phoned his uncle informing him about the incident and the uncle rushed to the scene where he found the two young men buried by the sand and dug them out.

Confirming the heartbreaking incident, Goodhope police Assistant Superintendent, Bigani Mpindi told this publication that after the incident was reported to the police, they swiftly rushed the men to Goodhope Primary Hospital where the eldest sibling was certified dead by the medical doctor.
