Donate sanitary pads to Ramotswa Society for the Deaf.
This Tuesday, the Batenegi Birthday Sanitary Pads Donation continued their good work of the last two years by handing over Sanitary Pads to the Ramotswa Society for the Deaf.
The feel-good occasion was graced by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ramotswa, Lefoko Moagi, Jazz superstar, Nnunu Ramogotsi Neill and Gabz FM presenter, Ratie Kefitlhile.
Now an annual event, the social responsibility undertaking was initiated in 2020 by Oageng Batenegi, a media practitioner-cum-social entrepreneur based in Gaborone.
The initiative is geared towards restoring the dignity of women and girls.
It was inspired by the need to attend to issues of inclusivity and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) which were extensively unpacked by the 2020 Winter Parliament.
A Motion to set up a commission of inquiry on issues of GBV was first put to the house by Mahalapye East MP, Yandani Boko but later adopted by Parliament as an Inter-Ministerial Committee following a proposal by MP for Goodhope/Mabule, Eric Molale.
This initiative seeks to ensure Menstrual hygiene management and access, and by extension also address the various plights of women and girls who are more often than not susceptible to GBV.
Last year, the beneficiaries were the CEYOHO Centre for people living with HIV in Tlokweng.
