Presidency Minister Kabo Morwaeng has trashed a question by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tswapong South, Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang who wanted to know why President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi was on private leave in August 2022, and why there was no public announcement on his whereabouts.

Gobotswang further that there were reports that the president was suffering from a mental lapse at the time when Deputy President Slumber Tsogwane was appointed Acting President.

“The President is a public figure and his whereabouts are consistently communicated to the public through the Government Communications and Information Systems publications and other public media, so his whereabouts are not a secret,” Morwaeng responded.

Morwaeng said at the time the President was on leave at no cost to the government.

However, the minister did not take kindly Gobotswang’s utterances that his boss was reported to be suffering from mental illness saying only the President’s enemies wished bad luck on him to a point that they wanted him to suffer mental illnesses.

Baba ba ga Tautona ke bone ba mo eleletsang dilo tse di maswe tse re utlwang di buiwa ke Rre Gobotswang. Rona dikgang tseo ga re di itse,” said the Minister that his office was not aware of the alleged mental lapse.

He said the President has taken private leave only once in August 2022 for a few days, compared to his predecessor who went on a 12 month sabbatical leave when he was Vice President in 1998.

“This President respects the Constitution; this President respects his people; this president recognizes his nation,” he said to Gobotswang accusing him of being among the haters of the President.

Morwaeng, however,  revealed that during his private leave, the President visited the United States between 15th and 19th August 2022 at the cost of P209.000.
