Man in court for allegedly threatening lover’s ex
A young man has been charged with threat-to-kill after allegedly telling his lover’s ex-boyfriend ‘he would cut his head off’.
23-year-old Keboabetswe Keboneilwe reportedly exploded in a jealous rage when he realised his girlfriend’s ex, Keamogetse Setammere, 25, was calling her.
It is suspected Keboneilwe was already suspicious that his woman still harboured feelings for her former boyfriend, and was furious when he spotted the incoming call.
Answering the phone, the Takatokwane native allegedly wasted no time in delivering his short but chilling message.
“Ke tsile go go bolaya ke go kgaola tlhogo (I am going to kill you by cutting off your head),” is the threat he apparently made on Friday 11 September.
Successfully securing the suspect’s remand during his brief appearance before Molepolole Magistrates Court this week, the Prosecutor, Sub Inspector Portia Lesole revealed investigations were at an early stage.
“We still need to seek assistance from mobile subscribers. May the accused be remanded in custody to enable the investigating officer to complete investigations. Also, if the accused is released on bail, he might accomplish his mission of killing the complainant,” argued Lesole.
Begging for bail, Keboneilwe’s maintained he spoke in the heat of the moment with no intention, insisting he had not meant what he said.
However, his pleas failed to move the court and Keboneilwe cut a glum figure as he shuffled out of the gallery in shackles waiting to be transported to prison.
He will next appear in court for mention on 19 October.
