Village Magistrate, Lindiwe Makgoro, has remanded in custody a second suspect in the infamous P9million theft case.
The court heard that the accused person, Thabano Ookeditse Ramaja, 32, and others not before court, on or about the 6th of August at Block 6 Red Dot complex, acting jointly in concert, robbed G4S security cash in a transit vehicle.
It is alleged that, at or immediately before such robbery the suspects used or threatened to use violence on the employees of G4S to dispose or retain the said property. The cash was on its way to be loaded at First National Bank (FNB) ATMs.
Speaking to The Voice Online, Senior Assistant Police Commissioner Nunu Lesetedi said the 1st accused person, Moagabo Rando Pelontle was recently arraigned before court and he is currently in custody. Police, Lesetedi said are still looking for the other six suspects and they are hoping to arrest them through the help of the public.
Magistrate Makgoro ordered that the accused be remanded in custody to allow the police to complete their investigations. Ramaja and Pelontle will be back in court on the 9th of September for mention.
Meanwhile Gaborone West Police are investigating a case in which Security Services was robbed cash in a transit vehicle on Sunday at Pick n Pay Hillside in Kgale. The armed robbers pounced on the officers after collecting cash from the shop.
Officer Commanding NO. 13 District Senior Superintendent Agreement Mapeu confirmed the incident. He said the investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
“The incident was reported in the afternoon on Sunday. The suspects were allegedly armed with guns during the robbery. Currently we do not have the exact amount of the money stolen because the officers had collected money from Fours, Concordant Holdings in Block 3 and Pick n Pay. Armed robberies are worrisome in my policing area. We appeal to the public to assist with any information that may lead to arrest of the culprits,” said Mapeu
