In a bid to cement their working relationship with the media, Pulamed hosted a media engagement session in Mogobane last Friday.
Besides getting to know one another, the interactive session was also meant to give the media an insight on Pulamed’s history and their progress since rebranding from Pula Medical Aid last year.
“The pandemic was challenging, however we took it as an opportunity to demonstrate the commitment we made to Batswana in 1991, to provide affordable and comprehensive healthcare cover,” informed Pula Med Principal Officer Dr Khumoetsile Mapitse.
“The new shift was much needed considering changing customer needs as well as emerging technologies in the medical aid industry, however our values and commitments remain the same.” He added
Touching on Pulamed’s background, he informed that the fund is administered by Associated Fund Administrators Botswana (AFA) (Pty) Ltd which is the largest medical aid administrator in Botswana.
“The Fund is open to all institutions in the private sector, parastatals, NGOs, etcetera and our
members have the certainty that they belong to a fund that offers the most comprehensive
benefits in the industry and continues to deliver value for money.” He further stated.
Through a fun and interactive game of 30 seconds, members of the fourth estate also learnt that Pula offers medical aid cover throughout Botswana, and that members can also get access to health care services in any country outside the borders of Botswana. They also learnt about the various schemes and added benefits of subscribing to Pulamed.
Mapitse worryingly informed that like many medical aid funds, Pulamed is also challenged by medical aid fraud. “We have employed a highly skillful team which we are confident is competent enough to close the gaps that leave room for fraud.”
Pulamed advised the media to enroll with medical aid schemes considering their high-risk jobs.
