WANTED: Zodwa at one of her shows

After breaking the net with her trademark dance moves that explicitly expose her private parts, South African dancer Zodwa Wabantu, has caught the attention of the police.

Today the cops confirmed that they were in the process of securing a warrant of arrest for Zodwa following her sold-out show in Kanye.

Zodwa’s explicit images that went viral on social media showing the star exposing her genitals to her frenzied fans did not escape the watchful eye of law enforcers and although they were yet to get an arrest warrant, police spokesperson, Near Bagali, said the South African entertainer faces a charge of public indecency.

“It is true that we are looking for Zodwa. The truth is we have a rule of law in Botswana. We have a way of doing things here. There is something called public indecency. What she did at the events you know of is not allowed at all. It is totally against the law,” Bagali said.

Some event promoters are said to have been questioned over the whereabouts of the South African popular personality .

One of those promoters, Eugene Lebona, told Voice Online that he was to host Zodwa at his event dubbed “Pool party with Zodwa” scheduled for Matebeleng, but he cad to cancel the show.

“There was heavy police presence at the show. We had to stop the show because it was becoming uncomfortable for even our patrons. Then we did not know what the police wanted,” Lebona said.

According to Lebona who says he was interrogated for close to three hours by senior police officers at Gaborone West Police station, Zodwa’s impending arrest was a directive.

“We gather that some high ranking officials were offended with the video clips of her previous shows. The police told me that they have about two cases against Zodwa and although I still don’t know for sure what her charge is, I heard them say something like public indecency,” the promoter told The Voice Online.

He further expressed his disappointment in the law enforcement: “They let her perform for other shows and they just had to disrupt mine. Everyone knows what Zodwa does, why wasn’t she stopped right from the beginning? why now?” He rhetorically asked.

Another promoter whose show was also affected by Zodwa’s impending arrest was Maun based event promoter Lere Ramoeta.

Ramoeta says he was cautioned by the Village elders that they did not want to have Zodwa perfom in Maun.

“Zodwa told us she was afraid to come to Botswana because she heard that the police want to arrest her. That is why she did not show up for the event yesterday, ” he said.

Public indecency, under the laws of Botswana, carries a P200 fine or a prison term not exceeding two years.
