A total of P2 350 000.00 has been set aside for the construction of a satellite primary school in Boro, near Maun.
Under the Constituency Development Fund for Maun West, the North West District council had set aside the amount to construct the two classroom block for standard one and two pupils.
This district’s proposed community project will include a kitchen and ablution blocks as well as fencing of the school yard.
“The project is expected to be completed within this current financial year. Our hope and wish is to have the classes open for students by January next year,” explained the area councillor, Kenson Kgaga of Boro-Senonnori ward.
Without doubt, the opening of the school will relieve younger children of Boro who have to endure a daily fifteen kilometres track to and from school in the dangerous bush and mostly hot weather.
Children as young as 6 years of age have to walk from Boro to the now crowded Matlapana primary school which is a catchment school for other major wards in and outside Maun, including Sexaxa and Matlapana.
