REVIVING HIP-HOP CULTURE: Scar and OneTake267

Hip-Hop artist OneTake267 is over the moon about his upcoming single which features the legendary Scar.

Speaking to The Voice Entertainment, OneTake informed that Cold Killah Anthem which was produced by Slxwburn will be released this April on a date yet to be communicated.

“It was such an honour working with the great man Scar given the history and impact he has had and still has on hip-hop culture. It challenged me to pick up my pen and make sure that I really give it my all because this is a moment where I need to showcase what I have to offer to the culture.”

He noted that working with Scar came with a lot of pressure which stemmed from his desire to prove himself. “Despite that, it was generally a very cool experience and I hope everyone enjoys it half as much as I did creating it.”

OneTake says that Batswana should expect nothing short of hard hitting bars! “The hook as well is a street anthem on its own”

“My verse tackles a few issues that we face as upcoming artists such as exploitation of our work especially between us and the promoters. I also go on to touch on cancel culture and how we as artists should strive to have zero dependency on anyone but ourselves”

For his part, Scar said: “I think what you can look forward to is an intergenerational collaboration that can adequately represent the current state of BW hip hop in the year 2023. I think Take is one of the few artists I’ve been featured by that had me a little anxious on what to say but that feeling always reminds me how much I care about our craft.”

“He has sparked a whole other side of hip-hop that has been dwindling away: punchlines, metaphors, syllables, flows, onomatopoeia, cadence.. the list is endless. I appreciate and I’m hyped about working with him. It was very fulfilling,” he added.

OneTake grew up in a musical household which exposed him to Hip-Hop at a very young age. “I fell in love with the art and showed interest in the culture in 2015 but I decided to pursue music professionally in 2018.” Since then, he has not looked back.

His first mixtape titled Genesis came out in 2020 and after the good reception, he went on to work with Ab The Activist on a track called Road to Induction which came out in 2021. “I think it is safe to say that the song caught the attention of a lot of people, especially hip hop heads who felt the hip hop genre was neglected.” Last year he dropped Only If, a track which according to him also performed exceptionally well.

“This one is a street banger, a street anthem. It is old school meets new school and I am sure you’ll love it” he concluded.
