Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has confirmed appointment of former Batawana Chief regent, Kealetile Moremi as Deputy Paramount Chief of Batawana.
Kealetile will be working under his younger brother, Kgosi Tawana Moremi II who is Batawana’s Paramount Chief.
Kgosi Tawana II was reinstated to chieftaincy three months ago following a 10 year break from office. During that period he was engaged in politics while Kealetile held the fort for him.
Tawana II quit politics in 2019.
When he returned to office she had to step down to give way for him, but after his appointment he selected her to be his deputy as the then deputy, Bringle Dithapo had to retire due to old age.
Kgosi Oleyo Ledimo has also been promoted to senior chief representative to fill in the boots of Kgosi Charles Letsholathebe who retired last year while Kgosi Leretetse Mogalakwe has been promoted to Chief representative to fill Ledimo’s post.
In a brief interview this week, Kgosi Ledimo confirmed that indeed the appointments were done last week Friday.
