INSET: Arone

Former Member of Parliament for Okavango Bagalatia Arone last week escaped death by a whisker after a horrific car accident.

The accident happened on Tuesday in the wee hours of the morning near Lonetree, along the Transkalahari highway.

Arone was returning from burying his father and fortunately for his children who were with him in the car, they escaped unharmed.

In a brief interview with the Voice Online at his hospital bed, the former cabinet minister confirmed the tragedy. “I am just relieved my children escaped unharmed.”

“We were driving back to Gaborone from my fathers funeral. I had been driving all the way until we reached Lonetree where I changed the driver’s seat with my eldest son. We had a tyre burst and the car overturned,” Aaron confirmed.

Aaron sustained injuries on his head, chest and left arm and is currently admitted at Princess Marina Hospital.
