Acting on a tip-off from local police sources, Kutlwano Police have arrested three foreign nationals on suspicion of stealing a car.
Cops stopped the trio – South Africans Andrew William Ferera and Itumeleng Jeteroy Mmelesi as well as Antonio Focheiro of Mozambique – by Block 1 traffic lights along the A1 road in Francistown last Tuesday.
They are suspected to have been travelling to Zimbabwe from South Africa.
They are accused of stealing a white Isuzu truck estimated to be worth around P300, 000.
The three men appeared before Francistown Magistrate Court on Friday, where Prosecutor Keneilwe Moruti successfully pleaded that they be remanded in custody.
“We are trying to involve Interpol. The accused persons were arrested on their way to Zimbabwe,” noted Moruti.
Ferera, a manager at Tshwarelo Motors in South Africa, and his co-accused will remain behind bars until their next court appearance, scheduled for 7 November.
