Two men were burnt beyond recognition last Friday morning in Maun after a Mercedes Benz vehicle they were driving in veered off the road and hit a government house located near Maun new mall.
The car crashed into the walls of the house partially reducing it into a pile of rubble.
Confirming the tragic accident Maun Police Station Commander, Chenamo Orateng, said it appears the two men were trapped inside the vehicle that was consumed by the raging fire.
“By the time the fire fighters arrived at the scene, it was already too late for the two men as they were burnt beyond recognition,” explained Orateng.
Meanwhile the man who is said to have been sleeping inside the house at the time of accident, luckily escaped with minor injuries. “He was taken to the hospital to see a doctor and he was treated and discharged,” said Orateng.
The accident is said to have occurred in the early morning of Friday, at around 4am and the cause is yet to be established as the police investigations are still under way.
