Prove I’m Museveni or shut up- Seboko

APPARENTLY LIVING IN FEAR: Seboko

A member of the Directorate Intelligence and Security (DIS) has approached Lobatse High Court seeking a restraining order against Specially Elected Member of Parliament and former Judge, Unity Dow.

Botho Seboko claims Dow is not only harassing him but has put his life in immediate danger by spreading lies linking him to France Museveni, a controversial pseudo on Facebook.

In his court papers filed on Monday (26th September), Seboko says victims of the pseudo account may harm me.

“It is therefore necessary to debunk the fiction that is told by Dow against me. I am asking her to cease and desist from subjecting me to cyber-harassment, cyber-stalking and offensive electronic communication.”

Seboko further insists Dow has sent WhatsApp messages to both himself and a group belonging to Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) MPs, falsely accusing him of intending to kill her and members of her family.

“The foregoing messages were followed by many abusive WhatsApp messages and voice notes by the Respondent to me. It is not necessary for me to rehash them for avoidance of prolixity, suffice it to say the Respondent continues to send to me abusive and provocative messages to date.”

The DIS man adds Dow’s crusade against him has hurt his reputation ‘enormously’ and breached his peace.

DEFENSIVE: Dow

“In addition, these accusations inevitably expose me to real danger or harm by victims of France Museveni. This is not a small matter by any measure.”

Insisting Dow’s behaviour was tantamount to cyber crime, Seboko maintained such actions were not befitting her status as a former judge and minister.

He further reiterated he has nothing to do with the Museveni mess.

“I deny that I am France Museveni or that I am a member of the state machinery that has executed and/or endorsed and/or directed and/or fuelled and/or leveraged and/or endorsed the actions of Museveni. Dow makes these allegations without backing them with proof.”

In a sustained campaign against Dow, the mysterious Museveni took to his social media page, repeatedly accusing her of corruption. A fed-up, Dow eventually snapped and went on attack, fingering Seboko as the brains behind it.

The WhatsApp voice note Seboko says Dow sent him on 21st August at 2137hrs

“Sir, my information is that, after being the great leader of Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations, you are now the great leader of propaganda at DIS [Directorate of Intelligence Services], and my information is that you are behind this account belonging to Museveni, and that my information is that you and a few other people, some of them at Comms have passed ways to harass me and you have been doing this for quite a while now… since last year and you continue. Consequences will come your way, maybe in the meantime you will kill me?

Maybe by the time I will be dead? Maybe you will have caused me to be arrested?

Maybe you will have planted all kinds of things in my house, in my car whatever?

You know, but I can tell you, let me share a short fable with you that has this line, ‘bagolo bai le, bagolo bai le, e rile baile go disa, tengteng, basenya ka go janamanetengteng…’The moral of the story is that even if you kill that bird, it will sing to you, it will sing… you will king it, it will sing … so I can tell you, even if you me, even if you harass me, even if you try to stop me, even if you harass my family like you are doing, I can tell you, they will be consequences for you as well…I am sure ….

Gatwe se safeleng se a tlhola… who will you be be…. Continue that way, but this shall come to an end….

You are setting up a culture which you cannot get rid off overnight, whatever you have started is going to grow and grow and grow…and one day this will come back to haunt you…. And your people….

You have started a culture of harassment, which will see the end of the rule of law in Botswana.

You and your colleagues have placed Botswana in a hole… it’s a sewer… The Botswana we knew is no longer there.

If you did not know this, we don’t accept this… I feel pity for you and your handlers.

Come and arrest me… come and fucking arrest me.”
